Subtitles are a transcript of everything said in a video, which often means they contain more sensitive material than the video description does.
⚠ Good to know
The tool rewrites syntax. It does not translate the dialogue, re-time cues, split long lines, fix overlapping timestamps or check reading speed. If a cue was wrong in the SRT, it will be equally wrong in the VTT.
WebVTT supports styling and positioning cues that plain SRT has no way to express. Converting gives you a valid, simple VTT file; any advanced positioning has to be added afterwards in a subtitle editor.
