Enlarging Cannot Invent Detail

Making a picture smaller keeps it sharp, because information is being discarded. Making it larger is the opposite: the software has to guess pixels that were never captured, so a photo blown up to twice its size looks soft no matter which tool you use. Start from the largest original you have.

When a preset does not match the shape of your photo, you decide what happens. Fill and crop keeps the exact target size and trims the edges, with the cropped area shaded in the preview. Fit inside also gives the exact size but shrinks the whole picture and pads around it — transparent for PNG and WebP, white for JPG.

How do I resize an image without losing quality?

Reducing the size keeps quality. The loss people notice usually comes from the JPG quality setting rather than the resizing itself, so leave the slider at 90 or above, or choose PNG, which is lossless.

What size should a passport photo be in pixels?

A 35 × 45 mm passport photo is 413 × 531 pixels at 300 dpi. The 50 × 60 mm ID photo used in many countries is 600 × 720 pixels. Both are in the preset list.

Why do my phone photos come out sideways in other tools?

Phone cameras often store the picture one way and record the correct rotation in an EXIF tag. Tools that ignore that tag produce a sideways file; this one reads it and bakes the rotation into the output.

Can I resize several images at once?

Not at the moment. The resizer handles one image at a time so you can check the crop before downloading.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The whole tool runs in the browser and the layout adapts to a phone screen, including picking a file straight from the photo library.
