Unlock a Known Password
Enter the password you already have and download a copy of the document that opens without it.
◆ UNLOCK AND PROTECT PDF
Two opposite jobs, one tool. Remove a password from a document when you know the password, or add one before a file leaves your hands.
What the tool does
Bank statements and payslips arrive locked, and confidential files need locking before you e-mail them. Both operations belong in the same place.
Enter the password you already have and download a copy of the document that opens without it.
Add a password to a PDF, confirm it once, and share the protected file instead of the open one.
A reveal button lets you check what you typed before committing, which prevents locking a file with a typo.
Only the security settings change. Pages, text and images are exactly as they were.
The operation runs on the Bubixo server, and the finished file comes straight back to you as a download.
No PDF suite, no plugin and no account: the tool works in the browser.
How it works
The interface asks for exactly what the chosen operation needs, and nothing more.
Two tabs decide whether a password is being removed or added.
Drop the document onto the page or select it from your device.
For unlocking, the current password. For protecting, the new password and its confirmation.
Save the unlocked or newly protected PDF and process another file if you need to.
Supported files
One file format, two operations, no other settings to choose.
A password-protected PDF plus the correct password. The result opens without prompting.
An open PDF plus a new password. The result asks for that password when opened.
Ordinary PDF documents; the content of the file is not modified by either operation.
Use cases
Usually with documents about money, employment or identity.
Banks often send statements locked with a personal code. Unlock your own copy for your records.
Remove the standard password from your own payslips before filing them.
Add a password to a contract or report before e-mailing it to the other party.
Store documents in the state that suits your archive, locked or open.
Privacy and responsible use
This tool exists so that you can manage protection on documents that are yours. It is not, and cannot be, a way into someone else's file.
⚠ Important
If you do not know the password, this tool cannot help you and no amount of retrying will change that. Recovering access to a document whose password has been lost is a matter for whoever issued it: your bank, your employer or the person who created the file.
A PDF password controls who can open the document; it is not a substitute for proper handling of confidential material. Anyone you give the password to can remove the protection exactly as you did, so think about who receives both the file and the password.
Frequently asked questions

No. Unlike the page-editing tools, this operation runs on the Bubixo server and the result is returned as a download.
Yes. Switch to protect mode and set a new password on the unlocked document.
