Why it looks good

A Two-Pass Palette, Not a Rough GIF

Most quick converters quantise every frame to a tiny set of colours, and the result bands and smears. This tool does it properly, in two passes.

Build a palette

The first pass looks at your clip and builds an optimal 256-colour palette from the frames that actually appear, using the differences between them.

Render with dithering

The second pass renders the GIF against that palette with dithering, which hides the colour limit and keeps gradients smooth instead of stepped.

Scale with Lanczos

Resizing uses the Lanczos filter, so a 640 px GIF stays sharp rather than soft, and vertical clips keep their shape.

Settings that matter

Three Choices, and What They Do

Width — 320 px is fine for chat and most posts; 480 or 640 px when detail matters. The height follows automatically, so vertical clips stay vertical.
Frame rate — 10 fps looks fine for most clips and keeps the file small; 15 or 20 fps is smoother but two to three times larger.
Loop — forever (the classic GIF behaviour) or once. GIFs have no sound, so only the picture is used.
An estimated size updates as you change these, so you can steer towards a file that will actually send.

GIFs balloon in size quickly, so two to five seconds is the sweet spot. The limit here is 15 seconds, and the tool tells you when a selection is getting long.

Why does this GIF look better than other converters?
